UZETSU INC. is a creative company that unearths cultural resources sleeping across Japan and puts them on stage — not as motifs, but as living techniques.
Contemporary dance by a choreographer trained at the Martha Graham Dance Company and Rudra Béjart Lausanne. Contemporary circus supervised by a performer of Cirque du Soleil's “O”. Music by a taiko artist awarded the Prime Minister's Prize. Scenography by a Good Design New Hope Award winner. Internationally recognised creators from each field, gathered around our original IP “UZETSU”, carry the strength of non-verbal performance to the world.
Akane madder dyeing, a lost craft. Hand-made washi paper with only a handful of successors left. The Shugendō view of life and death. Japan's vanishing spirituality and handwork are used as actual technique in our sets and costumes — revived for today, and for the world.
